ABOUT THIS ROLE

Are you a media-savvy storyteller with a passion for strategic communication and a knack for landing top-tier press? VVK PR + Creative is expanding—and we’re looking for a driven, creative, and experienced Public Relations Account Executive to help shape the voice of some of Michigan’s most exciting brands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Media Relations:

• Proactively reach out to reporters to pitch stories
• Cultivate strong relationships with reporters and producers in local, statewide and niche media outlets
• Land high-quality media placements for clients
• Compose and develop media plans for content and pitching
• Conduct key message and media training to prepare clients for speaking engagements and interviews

Writing:

• Write with purpose and skill to amplify clients’ positions as leaders in their respective sectors
• Write compelling new releases, media advisories, award entries and case studies
• Develop press kit materials (bios, SME profiles, fact sheets, impact reports) to support media outreach and engagement
• Develop key messages for campaigns, programs and initiatives that support the clients’ communications objectives

Client Support:

• Monitor media outlets for coverage of client news and competitor developments
• Track media placements and develop media recap reports and presentations
• Provide support for client special events

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO IS OR HAS:  

• A proven track record of high-quality media placements in a variety of outlets (print, broadcast and digital)
• Strong working relationships with statewide media outlets, reporters and producers
• A consummate project manager with a track record of being highly dependable, organized and obsessed with hitting deadlines
• Exemplary client relations skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with all levels of company staff, clients, and vendors
• Experience utilizing and managing PR news distribution platforms (Meltwater, Cision or the like); ability to skillfully research and build media target lists
• Strong attention to detail that allows thoroughness and accuracy to your work
• The strong desire to be a collaborative team player with the ability to work well with a diverse group of professionals in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
