Peter Van Dyke is the CEO of VVK and a founding partner. He oversees business strategy and growth for VVK’s 13-plus member team, as well as leads public relations services for the agency, with clients that range from local nonprofits to global corporations.
Prior to forming VVK with his partners, Peter served as CEO of Van Dyke Horn Public Relations for six years. Peter and his former partner acquired this firm, formerly named Berg Muirhead Associates, from its founders after 10 years of working for the agency. Under Peter’s leadership, Van Dyke Horn doubled its staff size, tripled its revenues and opened an office in Lansing. Van Dyke also worked in communications for the Detroit Institute of Arts and Marx Layne & Co.
Peter is a Detroit resident, and deeply involved in supporting and investing in his local community. He serves as chair of the Board of Visitors for Wayne State University’s College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, on the executive committee of Detroit Public Theatre, and as treasurer of the March du Nain Rouge. He is also on the honorary board for the Detroit Artists Market, where he served as chair, and has previously served in leadership roles on the boards of Michigan Humane, Michigan Community Resources and MOCAD.
Additionally, Peter is deeply proud of the scholarship he developed at his alma mater, Wayne State University, to honor Van Dyke Horn agency founders Bob Berg and Georgella Muirhead. The scholarship supports the advancement of minority public relations students.
Peter has received several awards and recognitions, including Wayne State University’s esteemed “Alumni Achievement in Public Relations” award, as well as Crain’s Detroit Business’s “40 under Forty” and “20 in their Twenties,” DBusiness Magazine’s “30 in their Thirties,” and Detroit Young Professionals’ “Vanguard Award.” In 2022, he was one of nine business and community leaders selected by the Detroit Regional Chamber for the “Young American Leaders Program” at Harvard Business School.
When not building VVK and supporting his team, clients and community, Peter is spending time with his small herd of pets (two dogs, two cats), on the Peloton, at the yoga studio or enjoying his cottage in Lexington, Mich.
